Himalayana andreae       Get publication



            Male (PBI_OON 15540). Total length 1.42. CEPHALOTHORAX: Carapace orange, without any pattern, pyriform in dorsal view, pars cephalica strongly elevated in lateral view, anteriorly narrowed to between 0.5 and 0.75 times its maximum width, with rounded posterolateral corners, posterolateral edge without pits, posterior margin not bulging below posterior rim, anterolateral corners without extension or projections, posterolateral surface without spikes, surface of elevated portion of pars cephalica smooth, sides strongly reticulate, thorax without depressions, fovea absent, without radiating rows of pits; lateral margin straight, smooth, without denticles; plumose setae near posterior margin of pars thoracica absent; non-marginal pars cephalica setae light, needle-like, present in u-shaped row, lost (only visible their bases); non-marginal pars thoracica setae lost (only visible their bases); marginal setae absent. Clypeus margin unmodified, sinuous in front view, vertical in lateral view, high, ALE separated from edge of carapace by their radius or more, median projection absent; setae present, light, needle-like. Chilum absent. Eyes six, well developed, all subequal, ALE circular, PME oval, PLE oval; posterior eye row recurved from both above and front; ALE separated by more than their diameter, ALE-PLE touching, PME touching for less than half their length, PLE-PME separated by less than PME radius. Sternum as long as wide, uniform, not fused to carapace, median concavity absent, without radial furrows between coxae I-II, II-III, III-IV, radial furrow opposite coxae III absent, surface finely reticulate, without pits, microsculpture covering entire surface, sickle-shaped structures absent, anterior margin unmodified, posterior margin not extending posteriorly of coxae IV, anterior corner unmodified, distance between coxae approximately equal, lateral margins with narrow extensions between coxae, without posterior hump, color: orange; setae sparse, dark, needle-like, densest laterally, originating from surface, without hair tufts. Mouthparts: Chelicerae straight, anterior face unmodified; fangs without tooth-like projections, directed posteriorly, shape normal, without prominent basal process, tip unmodified; setae light, needle-like, evenly scattered; paturon inner margin with pairs of enlarged setae, distal region abruptly narrowed. Labium triangular, not fused to sternum, anterior margin deeply incised, same as sternum in sclerotization; with 1 or 2 setae on anterior margin, subdistal portion with unmodified setae. Endites distally not excavated, anteromedian tip unmodified, posteromedian part unmodified, same as sternum in sclerotization, Chelicerae, endites and labium color: orange. ABDOMEN: ovoid, without long posterior extension, rounded posteriorly, inter-scutal membrane rows of small sclerotized platelets absent posteriorly. Book lung covers large, ovoid, without setae, anterolateral edge unmodified. Posterior spiracles connected by groove. Pedicel tube medium, ribbed, scuto-pedicel region unmodified, scutum extending far dorsal of pedicel, plumose hairs absent, matted setae on anterior ventral abdomen in pedicel area absent, cuticular outgrowths near pedicel absent. Dorsal scutum strongly sclerotized, without color pattern, covering full length of abdomen, no soft tissue visible from above, middle surface smooth, sides smooth, anterior half without projecting denticles, color: orange. Epigastric scutum strongly sclerotized, surrounding pedicel, strongly protruding, small lateral sclerites absent. Postepigastric scutum strongly sclerotized, long, semicircular, covering nearly full length of abdominal length, fused to epigastric scutum, anterior margin unmodified, without posteriorly directed lateral apodemes, color: orange. Spinneret scutum present, incomplete ring. Dorsum setae present, light, needle-like. Epigastric area a pair of ventrolateral bunches of stout setae between the respiratory openings.. Postepigastric area setae present, light, needle-like, absent in the area between the sperm pore and posterior spiracles. Spinneret scutum with fringe of stout setae. Dense patch of setae anterior to spinnerets absent. Colulus represented only by setae. LEGS: pale orange, without color pattern; femur IV not thickened, same size as femora I-III, patella plus tibia I shorter than carapace, tibia I unmodified, tibia IV specialized hairs on ventral apex absent, tibia IV ventral scopula absent, metatarsi I and II meso-apical comb absent, metatarsi III and IV weak ventral scopula absent. Leg spination (only surfaces bearing spines listed, all spines longer than segment width): (leg I: tibiae: v2-2-2-2-0, metatarsi: v2-2-0, leg II: tibia: v2-2-2-2-0, metatarsi: v2-2-0. ). Tarsi I to IV superior claws tooth not examined in detail. Tarsi I to IV without inferior claw. Trichobothria not examined. GENITALIA: Epigastric region with sperm pore large, circular, situated at level of anterior spiracles, with strongly protruding extension; furrow without omega-shaped insertions. Palp normal size, not strongly sclerotized, right and left palps symmetrical, proximal segments pale orange; embolus light, prolateral excavation absent; trochanter normal size, unmodified; femur enlarged, two or more times as long as trochanter, without posteriorly rounded lateral dilation, attaching to patella basally; patella shorter than femur, not enlarged, without prolateral row of ridges, setae unmodified; tibia trichobothria not examined; cymbium pale orange, ovoid in dorsal view, not fused with bulb, not extending beyond distal tip of bulb, plumose setae absent, without stout setae, without distal patch of setae; bulb pale orange, 1 to 1.5 times as long as cymbium, slender, tapering apically, middle part with a thin and sinuous tubule that ends in the embolus., distal part with a bunch of stout setae-like structures directed backward..
