Ischnothyreus matang       Get publication

            Male (PBI_OON 31470). Total length 1.59. CEPHALOTHORAX: Carapace pale orange, with dark brown egg-shaped patches behind eyes, ovoid in dorsal view, pars cephalica strongly elevated in lateral view, anteriorly narrowed to 0.49 times its maximum width or less, with rounded posterolateral corners, posterolateral edge without pits, posterior margin not bulging below posterior rim, anterolateral corners without extension or projections, posterolateral surface without spikes, surface of elevated portion of pars cephalica smooth, sides finely reticulate, thorax without depressions, fovea absent, without radiating rows of pits; lateral margin straight, smooth, without denticles; plumose setae near posterior margin of pars thoracica absent; non-marginal pars cephalica setae light, needle-like, present, scattered; marginal setae light, needle-like. Clypeus margin unmodified, straight in front view, vertical in lateral view, low, ALE separated from edge of carapace by less than their radius, median projection absent; setae present, light, needle-like. Chilum absent. Eyes six, well developed, ALE largest, ALE circular, PME oval, PLE oval; posterior eye row procurved from both above and front; ALE separated by less than their radius, ALE-PLE separated by less than ALE radius, PME touching throughout most of their length, PLE-PME touching. Sternum wider than long, pale orange, uniform, not fused to carapace, median concavity absent, without radial furrows between coxae I-II, II-III, III-IV, radial furrow opposite coxae III absent, surface smooth, without pits, microsculpture absent, sickle-shaped structures absent, anterior margin unmodified, posterior margin not extending posteriorly of coxae IV, anterior corner unmodified, distance between coxae II and III greater than distance between coxae I and II, and coxae III and IV, extensions of pre-coxal triangles present, lateral margins unmodified, without posterior hump; setae sparse, light, needle-like, evenly scattered, originating from surface, without hair tufts. Mouthparts: Chelicerae, endites and labium pale orange. Chelicerae slightly divergent, anterior face unmodified; fangs without tooth-like projections, directed medially, shape normal, without prominent basal process, tip unmodified; setae light, needle-like, evenly scattered; paturon inner margin with scattered setae, distal region unmodified, inner margin with medial denticles. Labium rectangular, fused to sternum, anterior margin not indented at middle, same as sternum in sclerotization; with 3-5 setae on anterior margin, subdistal portion with unmodified setae. Endites distally not excavated, anteromedian tip with one strong, tooth-like projection, same as sternum in sclerotization, tooth-like projection hook-like. ABDOMEN: ovoid, without long posterior extension, pointed posteriorly, inter-scutal membrane rows of small sclerotized platelets absent posteriorly; dorsum soft portions white, without color pattern. Posterior spiracles not connected by groove. Pedicel tube short, scutum extending far dorsal of pedicel, plumose hairs absent, matted setae on anterior ventral abdomen in pedicel area absent. Dorsal scutum weakly sclerotized, pale orange, without color pattern, covering less than 1/2 of abdomen, more than 1/2 to most of abdomen width, fused to epigastric scutum, middle surface smooth, sides smooth, anterior half without projecting denticles. Epigastric scutum weakly sclerotized, surrounding pedicel, not protruding, small lateral sclerites absent. Postepigastric scutum weakly sclerotized, pale orange, short, almost rectangular, covering about 1/2 of abdominal length, fused to epigastric scutum, anterior margin unmodified, without posteriorly directed lateral apodemes, anterior margin of sperm pore with a fringe of needle-like setae. Dorsum setae present, light, needle-like. Epigastric area setae uniform, light, needle-like. Postepigastric area setae present, light, needle-like. Dense patch of setae anterior to spinnerets absent. LEGS: pale orange, without color pattern; femur IV not thickened, same size as femora I-III, patella plus tibia I shorter than carapace, tibia I unmodified. Leg spination (only surfaces bearing spines listed, all spines longer than segment width): femora: I p0-1-2; r0-0-1; tibiae: I p2-1-1; r2-1-1; metatarsi: I p1-1-0; r1-1-0. Tarsi I to IV superior claws tooth not examined in detail. Tarsi I to IV without inferior claw. Trichobothria not examined. GENITALIA: Epigastric region with sperm pore large, circular, situated in front of anterior spiracles, unmodified; furrow without omega-shaped insertions, without setae. Palp normal size, strongly sclerotized, right and left palps symmetrical, proximal segments brown; embolus embolus slightly curved; trochanter normal size, with ventral projection, ventral projection elongated; femur normal size, one to two times as long as trochanter, without posteriorly rounded lateral dilation, attaching to patella basally; patella about as long as femur, not enlarged; tibia trichobothria with 3 trichobothria; cymbium brown, ovoid in dorsal view, fused with bulb but with clearly defined seam between, not extending beyond distal tip of bulb; bulb brown, more than 2 times as long as cymbium, stout, tapering apically, middle part with double ventral protuberance and lobe, distal part with small, spine-like apophysis dorsally and Collar-like membrane on retrolateral side.

            Female (PBI_OON 31470). Total length 1.90. As in male except as noted. CEPHALOTHORAX: Carapace without any pattern, broadly oval in dorsal view, anteriorly narrowed to between 0.5 and 0.75 times its maximum width; non-marginal pars thoracica setae light, needle-like. Sternum longer than wide; setae abundant. Labium triangular, anterior margin indented at middle. Endites anteromedian tip unmodified. ABDOMEN: rounded posteriorly. Dorsal scutum less than 1/4 abdomen width. Epigastric scutum strongly protruding. Postepigastric scutum widely hexagonal, covering about 1/3 of the abdominal length, not fused to epigastric scutum, with short posteriorly directed lateral apodemes. Spinneret scutum with fringe of needle-like setae. Dense patch of setae anterior to spinnerets present. LEGS: patella plus tibia I longer than carapace. Leg spination (only surfaces bearing spines listed, all spines longer than segment width): femora: I p0-1-2; r0-0-1; II p0-0-1; r0-0-1; tibiae: I, II p2-1-1; r2-1-1; metatarsi: I, II p1-1-0; r1-1-0. Tarsi I to IV superior claws tooth not examined in detail. Trichobothria not examined. GENITALIA: Shape: the posterior margin of the epigastric scutum is lined with numerous, long, needle-like setae. The epigastric furrow is rather wide. The margin of the postepigastric scutum is thickened. In its middle starts a thin, strongly winding tube, ending straight in elongated, narrow, goblet-like structure, which is protruding from the scutum.
