Ischnothyreus jojo       Get publication



            Male (PBI_OON 32184). Total length 1.76. CEPHALOTHORAX: Carapace pale orange, with dark brown egg-shaped patches behind eyes, ovoid in dorsal view, pars cephalica strongly elevated in lateral view, anteriorly narrowed to between 0.5 and 0.75 times its maximum width, with rounded posterolateral corners, posterolateral edge without pits, posterior margin not bulging below posterior rim, anterolateral corners without extension or projections, posterolateral surface without spikes, surface of elevated portion of pars cephalica smooth, sides finely reticulate, thorax without depressions, fovea absent, without radiating rows of pits; lateral margin straight, smooth, without denticles; plumose setae near posterior margin of pars thoracica absent; non-marginal pars cephalica setae light, needle-like, present, scattered; non-marginal pars thoracica setae light, needle-like; marginal setae light, needle-like. Clypeus margin unmodified, straight in front view, vertical in lateral view, low, ALE separated from edge of carapace by less than their radius, median projection absent; setae present, light, needle-like. Chilum absent. Eyes six, well developed, PME largest, ALE circular, PME oval, PLE oval; posterior eye row procurved from both above and front; ALE separated by less than their radius, ALE-PLE separated by less than ALE radius, PME touching throughout most of their length, PLE-PME touching. Sternum longer than wide, pale orange, uniform, not fused to carapace, median concavity absent, without radial furrows between coxae I-II, II-III, III-IV, radial furrow opposite coxae III absent, surface smooth, without pits, microsculpture absent, sickle-shaped structures absent, anterior margin unmodified, posterior margin not extending posteriorly of coxae IV, anterior corner unmodified, distance between coxae approximately equal, extensions of pre-coxal triangles present, lateral margins unmodified, without posterior hump; setae sparse, light, needle-like, evenly scattered, originating from surface, without hair tufts. Mouthparts: Chelicerae, endites and labium pale orange. Chelicerae slightly divergent, anterior face unmodified, basal process plate-like with inwards pointing hook distally, ventrally with saw-shaped extension; fangs without tooth-like projections, directed posteriorly, shape normal, with prominent basal process, tip unmodified; setae light, needle-like, evenly scattered; paturon inner margin with scattered setae, distal region unmodified. Labium rectangular, fused to sternum, anterior margin indented at middle, same as sternum in sclerotization; with 3-5 setae on anterior margin, subdistal portion with unmodified setae. Endites distally not excavated, anteromedian tip with one strong, tooth-like projection, posteromedian part unmodified, same as sternum in sclerotization. ABDOMEN: ovoid, without long posterior extension, rounded posteriorly, inter-scutal membrane rows of small sclerotized platelets absent posteriorly; dorsum soft portions pale orange, without color pattern. Posterior spiracles not connected by groove. Pedicel tube short, unmodified, scuto-pedicel region unmodified, plumose hairs absent, matted setae on anterior ventral abdomen in pedicel area absent. Dorsal scutum weakly sclerotized, pale orange, without color pattern, covering about 1/2 of abdomen, between 1/4 and 1/2 abdomen width, middle surface smooth, sides smooth, anterior half without projecting denticles. Epigastric scutum weakly sclerotized, surrounding pedicel, not protruding, small lateral sclerites absent. Postepigastric scutum weakly sclerotized, pale orange, long, almost rectangular, covering about 3/4 of abdominal length, fused to epigastric scutum, anterior margin unmodified, without posteriorly directed lateral apodemes. Dorsum setae present, light, needle-like. Epigastric area setae uniform, light, needle-like, anterior margin of sperm pore with a fringe of needle-like setae. Postepigastric area setae present, light, needle-like. Spinneret scutum with fringe of needle-like setae. Dense patch of setae anterior to spinnerets absent. Interscutal membrane with setae. Colulus represented only by setae. LEGS: pale orange, without color pattern; femur IV not thickened, same size as femora I-III, patella plus tibia I longer than carapace. Leg spination (only surfaces bearing spines listed, all spines longer than segment width): femora: I p0-1-1; r0-0-2; II p0-0-1; r0-0-1; tibiae: I, II p2-1-1; r2-1-1; metatarsi: I, II p1-1-0; r1-1-0. Tarsi I to IV superior claws tooth not examined in detail. Trichobothria not examined. GENITALIA: Epigastric region with sperm pore large, circular, situated at level of anterior spiracles, unmodified; furrow without omega-shaped insertions, without setae. Palp normal size, strongly sclerotized, right and left palps symmetrical, proximal segments brown; embolus not discernible; trochanter normal size, with ventral projection; femur normal size, one to two times as long as trochanter, attaching to patella basally; patella about as long as femur, not enlarged; tibia trichobothria with 3 trichobothria; cymbium brown, ovoid in dorsal view, fused with bulb but with clearly defined seam between, not extending beyond distal tip of bulb; bulb brown, 1 to 1.5 times as long as cymbium, stout, tapering apically, with ventral protuberance and lobe, distal part apex of bulb roundish with small pointed apophyses.

            Female (PBI_OON 32184). Total length 2.13. As in male except as noted. CEPHALOTHORAX: Carapace without any pattern, broadly oval in dorsal view, pars cephalica slightly elevated in lateral view, anteriorly narrowed to 0.49 times its maximum width or less. Clypeus curved downwards in front view. Eyes posterior eye row straight from above. Sternum setae abundant. Mouthparts: Chelicerae straight; fangs without prominent basal process. Labium triangular. Endites anteromedian tip unmodified. Female palp claws absent; spines present, formula: femur v1-2-1; tarsus unmodified; trichobothria tibia with three trichobothria. ABDOMEN: Pedicel scutum extending far dorsal of pedicel. Dorsal scutum covering less than 1/2 of abdomen, less than 1/4 abdomen width, not fused to epigastric scutum. Epigastric scutum slightly protuding, posterior margin slightly thickenend, with needle-like setae. Postepigastric scutum widely hexagonal, only around epigastric furrow, not fused to epigastric scutum, with short posteriorly directed lateral apodemes. Spinneret scutum present, incomplete ring. Dense patch of setae anterior to spinnerets present. LEGS: Leg spination (only surfaces bearing spines listed, all spines longer than segment width): femora: I p0-1-2; r0-0-2; II p0-0-1; r0-0-1; tibiae: I, II p2-1-1; r2-1-1; metatarsi: I, II p1-1-0; r1-1-0; (leg I: the most distal spine on femora very small. ). Tarsi I to IV superior claws tooth not examined in detail. GENITALIA: Shape: the posterior margin of the epigastric scutum is lined with numerous, long, needle-like setae. The epigastric furrow is narrow. The margin of the postepigastric scutum is slightly thickened. In its middle starts a dark thin, winding tube running posteriorly. The tube is covered ventrally by a slcerotized u-shaped structure. On both sides if the tube are small, curved sclerotized extensions visible.
