Neotrops avalosi       Get publication



            Male (PBI_OON 30668). Total length 1.51. CEPHALOTHORAX: Carapace orange, without any pattern, broadly oval in dorsal view, pars cephalica strongly elevated in lateral view, anteriorly narrowed to 0.49 times its maximum width or less, with rounded posterolateral corners, posterolateral edge without pits, posterior margin not bulging below posterior rim, anterolateral corners without extension or projections, posterolateral surface without spikes, surface of elevated portion of pars cephalica smooth, sides smooth, thorax without depressions, fovea absent, without radiating rows of pits; lateral margin straight, smooth, without denticles; non-marginal pars cephalica setae dark, needle-like, present, scattered; non-marginal pars thoracica setae dark, needle-like; marginal setae dark, needle-like. Clypeus margin unmodified, curved downwards in front view, vertical in lateral view, low, ALE separated from edge of carapace by less than their radius, median projection absent; setae present, dark, needle-like. Chilum absent. Eyes six, well developed, ALE, PME subequal, larger than PLE, ALE circular, PME circular, PLE oval; posterior eye row recurved from above, procurved from front; ALE separated by their radius to diameter, ALE-PLE separated by less than ALE radius, PME touching throughout most of their length, PLE-PME separated by less than PME radius. Sternum as long as wide, pale orange, uniform, not fused to carapace, median concavity absent, without radial furrows between coxae I-II, II-III, III-IV, radial furrow opposite coxae III absent, surface smooth, without pits, microsculpture absent, sickle-shaped structures absent, anterior margin unmodified, posterior margin not extending posteriorly of coxae IV, anterior corner unmodified, lateral margin without infra-coxal grooves, distance between coxae approximately equal, extensions of pre-coxal triangles present, lateral margins unmodified, without posterior hump; setae sparse, dark, needle-like, evenly scattered, originating from surface, without hair tufts. Mouthparts: Chelicerae, endites and labium pale orange. Chelicerae straight, anterior face unmodified; fangs without tooth-like projections, directed medially, shape normal, without prominent basal process, tip unmodified; setae light, needle-like, evenly scattered; paturon inner margin with pairs of enlarged setae, distal region unmodified, posterior surface unmodified, promargin unmodified, inner margin unmodified. Labium elongated hexagon, not fused to sternum, anterior margin indented at middle, same as sternum in sclerotization; subdistal portion with unmodified setae. Endites distally not excavated, serrula present in single row, anteromedian tip with backwards folded ridge, posteromedian part unmodified, each longitudinal ridges have a transverse row of three short setae on the anterior part. Less sclerotized anteriorly and ectally to the ridges.. ABDOMEN: ovoid, without long posterior extension, rounded posteriorly, inter-scutal membrane rows of small sclerotized platelets absent posteriorly; dorsum soft portions white, without color pattern. Book lung covers large, elliptical, without setae, anterolateral edge unmodified. Posterior spiracles connected by groove. Pedicel tube short, unmodified, scuto-pedicel region unmodified, scutum absent, but abdomen not extending anterior of pedicel, plumose hairs absent, matted setae on anterior ventral abdomen in pedicel area absent, cuticular outgrowths near pedicel absent. Dorsal scutum absent. Epigastric scutum weakly sclerotized, not surrounding pedicel, not protruding, small lateral sclerites absent. Postepigastric scutum weakly sclerotized, pale orange, short, only around epigastric furrow, not fused to epigastric scutum, anterior margin unmodified, without posteriorly directed lateral apodemes. Spinneret scutum absent. Dorsum setae present, dark, needle-like. Epigastric area setae uniform, dark, needle-like. Postepigastric area setae present, dark, needle-like. Dense patch of setae anterior to spinnerets absent. Colulus represented only by setae. LEGS: pale orange, without color pattern; femur IV not thickened, same size as femora I-III, patella plus tibia I near as long as carapace, tibia I unmodified, tibia IV specialized hairs on ventral apex present, tibia IV ventral scopula absent, metatarsi III and IV weak ventral scopula absent. Leg spination (only surfaces bearing spines listed, all spines longer than segment width): (leg I: femur: d1, pv0-0-0-1-1-0; tibia: v2-2-2-2-2-0; metatarsus: v2-2-2, leg II: femur: d1, pv0-0-0-1-1-0; tibia: v2-2-2-2-2-0; metatarsus: v2-2-2, leg III: femur: d0-1-1; tibia: p1-1, v2ap, r1-1; metatarsus: p1-1, r1, v2ap, leg IV: femur: d1-1-1; tibia: v1-1-1, d0-1-1; metatarsus: p1-1. ). Tarsi I to IV superior claws tooth not examined in detail. Tarsi I to IV without inferior claw. Trichobothria not examined. GENITALIA: Epigastric region with sperm pore not visible; furrow without omega-shaped insertions. Palp normal size, not strongly sclerotized, right and left palps symmetrical, proximal segments pale orange; embolus dark, prolateral excavation absent; trochanter normal size, unmodified; femur normal size, two or more times as long as trochanter, without posteriorly rounded lateral dilation, attaching to patella basally; patella shorter than femur, not enlarged, setae unmodified; tibia trichobothria not examined; cymbium pale orange, ovoid in dorsal view, not fused with bulb, not extending beyond distal tip of bulb, without stout setae, without distal patch of setae; bulb pale orange, 1 to 1.5 times as long as cymbium, stout, tapering apically, distal part traslucent conductor with the distal half broadly expanded and dorsally oriented about 90°.

            Female (PBI_OON 30669). Total length 1.94. As in male except as noted. CEPHALOTHORAX: Carapace pale orange. Labium with 1 or 2 setae on anterior margin. Endites anteromedian tip unmodified. Female palp claws absent; spines absent; tarsus unmodified. LEGS: Leg spination (only surfaces bearing spines listed, all spines longer than segment width): (leg I: femur: d1, pv0-0-0-1-1-0; tibia: v2-2-2-2-2-0; metatarsus: v2-2-2-2, leg II: femur: d1, pv0-0-0-1-1-0; tibia: v2-2-2-2-2-0; metatarsus: v2-2-2-2, leg III: femur: d0-1-1; tibia: d1, v1ap, r1; metatarsus: d0-2, p0-1, v1-0-1ap, leg IV: femur: d1-0-1; tibia: p1-1ap, d2-0-2, v0-0-1, r1-0; metatarsus: d2-2, p1-1, v0-1-1ap, r1-1. ). Tarsi I to IV superior claws tooth not examined in detail. Trichobothria not examined. GENITALIA: Dorsal view: anterior receptacle relatively thin and long, with a subdistal constriction. Distal part of the uterus externus with folded margins. Anterior transverse ridges clearly notched. Posterior plate large, covering completely the anterior elements of the internal female genitalia.
