Neotrops platnicki       Get publication



            Male (PBI_OON 30567). Total length 1.74. CEPHALOTHORAX: Carapace yellow, without any pattern, ovoid in dorsal view, pars cephalica slightly elevated in lateral view, anteriorly narrowed to between 0.5 and 0.75 times its maximum width, with rounded posterolateral corners, posterolateral edge without pits, posterior margin not bulging below posterior rim, anterolateral corners without extension or projections, posterolateral surface without spikes, surface of elevated portion of pars cephalica smooth, sides smooth, thorax without depressions, fovea absent, without radiating rows of pits; lateral margin straight, smooth, without denticles; plumose setae near posterior margin of pars thoracica absent; non-marginal pars cephalica setae dark, needle-like, present, scattered; non-marginal pars thoracica setae absent; marginal setae dark, needle-like. Clypeus margin unmodified, curved downwards in front view, vertical in lateral view, low, ALE separated from edge of carapace by less than their radius, median projection absent; setae present, dark, needle-like. Chilum absent. Eyes six, well developed, all subequal, all eyes circular; posterior eye row recurved from above, straight from front; ALE separated by their radius to diameter, ALE-PLE touching, PME touching throughout most of their length, PLE-PME separated by less than PME radius. Sternum as long as wide, yellowish white, uniform, not fused to carapace, median concavity absent, without radial furrows between coxae I-II, II-III, III-IV, radial furrow opposite coxae III absent, surface smooth, without pits, microsculpture absent, sickle-shaped structures absent, anterior margin unmodified, posterior margin not extending posteriorly of coxae IV, anterior corner unmodified, lateral margin without infra-coxal grooves, distance between coxae approximately equal, extensions of pre-coxal triangles present, lateral margins unmodified, without posterior hump; setae sparse, dark, needle-like, evenly scattered, originating from surface, without hair tufts. Mouthparts: Chelicerae, endites and labium yellow. Chelicerae straight, anterior face unmodified; without teeth on both promargin and retromargin; fangs without tooth-like projections, directed medially, shape normal, without prominent basal process, tip unmodified; setae light, needle-like, evenly scattered; paturon inner margin with pairs of enlarged setae, distal region unmodified, posterior surface unmodified, promargin unmodified, inner margin unmodified. Labium elongated hexagon, not fused to sternum, anterior margin indented at middle, same as sternum in sclerotization; with 6 or more setae on anterior margin, subdistal portion with unmodified setae. Endites serrula present in single row, same as sternum in sclerotization. ABDOMEN: ovoid, without long posterior extension, rounded posteriorly, inter-scutal membrane rows of small sclerotized platelets absent posteriorly; dorsum soft portions pale white, without color pattern. Book lung covers large, elliptical, without setae, anterolateral edge unmodified. Posterior spiracles connected by groove. Pedicel tube short, unmodified, scuto-pedicel region unmodified, scutum absent, but abdomen not extending anterior of pedicel, plumose hairs absent, matted setae on anterior ventral abdomen in pedicel area absent, cuticular outgrowths near pedicel absent. Dorsal scutum absent. Epigastric scutum weakly sclerotized, not surrounding pedicel, not protruding, small lateral sclerites absent. Postepigastric scutum weakly sclerotized, yellow, short, only around epigastric furrow, not fused to epigastric scutum, anterior margin unmodified, without posteriorly directed lateral apodemes. Spinneret scutum absent. Dorsum setae present, dark, needle-like. Epigastric area setae uniform, dark, needle-like. Postepigastric area setae present, dark, needle-like. Dense patch of setae anterior to spinnerets absent. Colulus represented only by setae. LEGS: yellow, without color pattern; patella plus tibia I near as long as carapace, tibia I unmodified, femora femora IV slightly thickened than the femora I-III. Leg spination (only surfaces bearing spines listed, all spines longer than segment width): (leg I: femur: d1-1; tibia: v2-2-2-2-2-0; metatarsus: v2-2-2-2, leg II: femur: d1-1; tibia: v2-2-2-2-2-0; metatarsus: v2-2-2-2, leg III: femur: d1-1-1; tibia: d1, p1-1, r1-1,v1-2ap; metatarsus: p1-1, r1-1,v1-2ap, leg IV: femur: d1-1-1; tibia: d1, p1-1, r1-1,v1-2ap; metatarsus: p1-1, r1-1,v1-2ap. ). Tarsi I to IV superior claws tooth not examined in detail. Tarsi I to IV without inferior claw. Trichobothria not examined. GENITALIA: Epigastric region with sperm pore not visible; furrow without omega-shaped insertions. Palp normal size, not strongly sclerotized, right and left palps symmetrical, proximal segments pale orange; embolus dark, prolateral excavation absent, relatively long and thick, its apical part dorsally overlap dorsally the tip of the conductor; trochanter normal size, unmodified; femur normal size, two or more times as long as trochanter, without posteriorly rounded lateral dilation, attaching to patella basally; patella shorter than femur, not enlarged, setae unmodified; tibia trichobothria not examined; cymbium pale orange, ovoid in dorsal view, not fused with bulb, not extending beyond distal tip of bulb, plumose setae absent, without stout setae, without distal patch of setae; bulb pale orange, more than 2 times as long as cymbium, slender, ovoid, middle part long sperm duct, that apparently arises from the center of the bulb; then runs back and bend forward again. In the middle of the bulb it has a thickening from which becomes less sclerotized before leading into the embolus, distal part complex conductor, with a ventral, pointed traslucent flange and other branch anteriorly directed, sclerotized and with folded tip.

            Female (PBI_OON 30620). Total length 1.79. As in male except as noted. CEPHALOTHORAX: Carapace broadly oval in dorsal view; non-marginal pars cephalica setae absent. Eyes PME oval, PLE oval. Sternum longer than wide. Endites distally not excavated, anteromedian tip unmodified, posteromedian part unmodified. Female palp claws absent; spines absent; trichobothria three trichobotria on the palpal tibia. ABDOMEN: Epigastric scutum without lateral joints. LEGS: femora femora IV slightly thickened than the femora I-III. Leg spination (only surfaces bearing spines listed, all spines longer than segment width): (leg I: femur: d1-1; tibia: v2-2-2-2-2-0; metatarsus: v2-2-2-2, leg II: femur: d1-1; tibia: v2-2-2-2-2-0; metatarsus: d0-1, v2-2-2-2, leg III: femur: d1-1-1; tibia: d1, p1-1, r1-1,v1-2ap; metatarsus: p1-1, r1-1,v1-2ap, leg IV: femur: d1-1-1; tibia: d1, p1-1, r1-1,v1-2ap; metatarsus: d0-1, p1-1, r1-1,v1-2ap. ). Tarsi I to IV superior claws tooth not examined in detail. Trichobothria examined with Compound microscope; tibia: each with three; metatarsus: each with one. GENITALIA: Ventral view: anterior receptacle with a transversely expanded tip, with pointed lateral extensions from which muscles arises to the posterior plate. No gland ducts are visible, only a probable small vesicle at the base level. The ventral ridges have a strong indentation at the middle, in the presumably copulatory opening..
