After studying organismal biology in Montpellier and Paris and a semester on drosophila molecular evolution at the University of Barcelona, I obtained a Ph.D. in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology from Columbia University, working on the molecular evolution of tuberculosis pathogens isolated from elephants. Currently I am involved in projects focusing on viruses such as avian influenza, as well as computational methods to study the evolution of pathogens and genome-wide variation across taxonomic scales.
