AMNH enforces strict policies that are in line with government regulations on the collecting, import and export of wildlife specimens. If you are collecting for, donating/selling specimens to or sending specimens to or from AMNH, it is important that you read the appropriate pages and follow the guidelines. AMNH Researchers are responsible for obtaining their own scientific collecting permits from state, federal or foreign agencies. Copies of permits/titles/receipts must be given to Curators at the time specimens are deposited in the museum to be filed along with an accession form and, when appropriate, a specimen transfer form in the Registrar’s Office.
