Below is
a movie of our 2005 poster that presented the research
published later in the year in Cladistics.
The poster
included scores of self-contained blue LEDs attached to
images of ponyfishes at the site of the translucent flank
patch. This effect was used to highlight the
bioluminescence of ponyfishes. Even among ichthyologists,
ponyfishes are poorly known, and we wanted to highlight
their interesting biology and evolution to the broad
audience present at an American Society of Ichthyologists
and Herpetologists meeting.
