Bashford
Dean Memorial Library
The Bashford Dean
Memorial Library is a major ichthyological library
that is jointly maintained by the AMNH Library and
the Department of Ichthyology. The library is
particularly strong in early ichthyological works and
is a tremendous resource for both books and reprints.
The library includes the personal collections of many
previous curators (most notably its namesake Bashford
Dean and Donn Rosen), and it has special funds to
continue the procurement of books to augment the
collection. Additionally, the library maintains a
reprint collection for systematic ichthyological
works, so reprints from our colleagues for the
library are always welcome, particularly if they
include AMNH specimens or data.
