AMNH
Department of Ichthyology
Ichthyology is one
of four research departments within the Museum's
Division of Vertebrate Zoology, and it is committed
to the care of the fish collection and to
collection-based anatomical and systematic research.
All curators and many of the department's affiliated
scientists maintain active field programs that
continue to augment the Department's collection.
Specific research topics and fieldwork are determined
by the departmental scientists and overseen by the
curators. All three curators have a strong commitment
to postdoctoral training and graduate training in
systematics, conservation, and evolutionary biology
through the diversity of graduate programs available
at the AMNH, including cooperative PhD programs with
Columbia University and the City University of New
York (see the Museum Office of Grants and
Fellowships or contact
the Departmental curators
for
more information).
