Visiting
the AMNH Collection
The collections and
library are available to researchers and students.
Appointments to visit should be made in advance by
contacting the curators or Curatorial
Associate.
Requests should include a brief summary of the work to
be done and the length of the visit. Students should
include an introduction from their advisor. The
collections are open to visitors Monday-Friday from
8:00 am to 5:00 pm, unless special arrangements are
made. The facilities are closed on New Year's Day,
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Lincoln's Birthday,
President's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor
Day, Columbus Day, Election Day, Veteran's Day,
Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. If you need
housing accommodations there are a number of
local hotels that may be available.
Please
send copies (hard copy or electronic pdf) of any
publications that result, in whole or part, from any
studies that include AMNH specimens to the
Curatorial
Associate.
Note: There is an annual competition for a limited number of collection study grants for graduate students interested in examining specimens in the AMNH Department of Ichthyology collection.
