The Bibliography and Index to AMNH Scientific Publications is a bibliography of herpetological publications in the Museum's journals American Museum Novitates and Bulletin of the American Museum of Natural History, searchable by author, title, volume, number, year, and taxon covering the first herpetological publication of each series through the year 1999.

Obtaining Electronic Versions of AMNH Publications

Electronic (pdf) versions of the museum series (Bulletin of the American Museum of Natural History and American Museum Novitates) are now available for free download from the AMNH digital library.

Obtaining Print Versions of Staff Publications

The Department of Herpetology sends papers written by its curatorial staff (and other staff when possible) to individual professional biologists and departmental libraries on an exchange basis; this includes papers published in outside journals as well as in the Museum series. Graduate students and professionals with whom the Department does not maintain an exchange may request individual papers as reprints

Herpetological papers published in the Bulletin of the American Museum of Natural History and the American Museum Novitates are available for purchase.

For publications for at least the last five years: The AMNH Main Library handles interlibrary exchanges and sales of back issues (see here).

For publications older than about five years: American Museum Bulletin and Novitates still in print are offered for sale by the Department. A list may be obtained by writing the Department or accessing the AMNH Publication web page. Please do not request copies of the publications in this index without first checking there to see if the publication is still available.
