Comment

In the original publication (p. 29), the authors suggested that populations of nominal Limnonectes khasianus from peninsular Thailand are in reality assignable to Limnonectes deinodon (e.g., see Matsui and Nishikawa, 2014, Curr. Herpetol., Kyoto, 33: 135–147, which provided a molecular tree including this species as Limnonectes khasianus).  Hui, Ngadi, Md-Zain, Md-Zairi, and Abdul-Latiff, 2020, Biodiversitas, 21: 2425–2429, reported the species from Pulau Tinggi, off the southeastern coast of peninsular Malaysia.   Shahriza and Ibrahim, 2014, Check List, 10: 253–259, provided a photograph and brief natural history observations for a population (as Limnonectes laticeps) in Kedah, West Malaysia.Older literature for Limnonectes laticeps and Limnonectes khasianus from peninsular Malaysia and adjacent Thailand presumably refer to this species according to Poyarkov, Nguyen, Popov, Geissler, Pawangkhanant, Neang, Suwannapoom, and Orlov, 2021, Russ. J. Herpetol., 28 (3A): 23. Chan-ard, 2003, Photograph. Guide Amph. Thailand: 116-117, provided a very brief account, map for Thailand, and photograph (as Limnonectes laticeps). Niyomwan, Srisom, and Pawangkhanant, 2019, Field Guide Amph. Thailand: 252–253, provided a brief account (photographs, habitat, and range) for Thailand (in Thai). See comment under Limnonectes khasianus for access to other relevant literature. Hong, Anuar, Grismer, and Quah, 2021, Check List, 17: 794, reported the species from Batu Hampar Recreational Forest, Kedah, West Malaysia.
