ANTHROPOLOGY INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

The Anthropology Internship Program offers internships for undergraduates and graduates to work on projects relating to the collections or to the ongoing research interests of curatorial staff in the museum or in the field. The Museum's collections and current research interests include North, South, and Mesoamerican archaeology and ethnology; Asian, African and Pacific ethnology; and Human Biology. In addition to Curatorial Research, internships can be considered in collections management, archives, and conservation. Internships are offered for periods ranging from three months to one year depending on the project.

The Anthropology Internship Program supports students enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs in anthropology and related fields. Grants provide monthly stipends for periods of two months to one year. The minimum work requirement for a paid internship is two days per week.

Applicants should fill in and print an Anthropology Internship application form online.

Applicants should specify an area of interest within anthropology so that appropriate staff can evaluate the project. If the internship is for academic credit, copies of transcripts and the name and contact information of an academic advisor must accompany the application. The amount of the stipend varies according to the work schedule.established with the relevant museum staff. In some cases internships will be awarded without stipend.

Deadlines: Internship application deadlines are April 1 for summer or fall internships, and December 1 for spring internships starting in January.
