Notes:
Freshwater fishes account for at least 40 % of all fish species. Considering that Freshwater makes up only about .01 % of the Earthís water supply, it is calculated that freshwaters hold a much greater ědensityî of fish than the oceans. The freshwater Ichthyofauna of Madagascar is not unique in its large number of species, but that they exhibit a very high rate of endemism. In Madagascar, the second largest family of freshwater fishes is Bedotiidae, which includes the genus Bedotia.
