WORKER - TL 3.1-3.3 mm; among species with 11-segmented antennae, it is unique in having the base of the first gastral tergite densely sculptured. Fine, simple, acute hairs dense on all dorsal surfaces, on first gastral tergite they lie flat and are directed towards the midline. Colour dark brown, gaster darker (Bolton, 1980).

A savannah species; also a single worker from Mokwa, Nigeria (C. Longhurst, 28.iv.1977), a true savannah location (see Longhurst & Howse, 1979b).
