Sphinctomyrmex species from Gabon

return to key Referred to by Brown (1975: 76) as collected by W H Gotwald in Gabon in 1974. Apparently decidedly larger than the Ivorian specimen (see key) and dark brown in colour; Brown noted that Gotwald intended to describe it.

This would appear to be the same as the form collected by Gotwald in Gabon and possibly is that drawn for Bolton (1990) - note the male of rufiventris had the sides of the propodeum rugo-reticulate and large irregular puncturation on the head and alitrunk.
