Soldier - return to key Minor - return to key {link to the Hymenoptera Name Server} Type location Senegal (Forel, 1894b: 91, soldier, worker & male) collected in "Upper Senegal"; subspecies erythraea (Emery, 1901e: 61, soldier & worker) from Eritrea (not Ethiopia); soldier, worker and male described (see Bolton, 1995) .

Wheeler (1922) listed a second Senegal finding at Thiès (F. Silvestri) and noted it from Sudan (Omdurman, I Trägårdh).

Clearly a savannah species.

Santschi (1930a) gave a drawing of the heads of the soldier and worker (right).
