Microdaceton exornatum Santschi
Type location South Africa (Santschi, 1913g: 478, worker;
Santschi, 1914e: 33, illustrated, worker); junior synonyms laevior
(Arnold, 1948: 225, worker & queen) from South Africa and leakeyi
(Patrizi, 1947: 219, illustrated, holotype queen) from Kenya
(see Bolton, 1995); worker and queen described. A specimen from
South Africa is pictured in Hôlldobler & Wilson (1990,
page 112) .

WORKER
- TL 3.0-4.0 mm; very wide postpetiole, almost as wide as base of
first gastral tergite; first gastral tergite with basal costulae;
colour yellow, appendages paler (Bolton, 1983: 402, illustrated,
profile, and dorsal view of pedicel and base of gaster).
