Type location Mozambique (Cremastogaster inermis Mayr, r. delagoensis, n. st., Forel, 1894b: 99, worker; raised to species Emery, 1922e: 146); subspecies acutidens (Arnold, 1944: 7, illustrated on page 16, worker) from South Africa, merwei (Santschi, 1932a: 385, worker) from South Africa, and rhodesiana (Forel, 1913a: 126; Arnold, 1920a: 532, worker) from Zimbabwe; worker and queen described (see Bolton, 1995) .
