Cerapachys nitidulus Brown

return to key {link to the Hymenoptera Name Server} Type locality Zaïre (Cerapachys nitida, Weber, 1949a: 2, illustrated, worker & queen; renamed Brown, 1975: 23; see Bolton, 1995) .

Weber's (1949a) description is at {original description}.

Brown (1975) stated this was the only form with 11-segmented antennae, as stated by Weber (1949a) but Weber's own (1942a) description of C. sudanensis appears to suggest that also has 11-segmented antennae (see below). The specimen from the Central African Republic (below) confirms this.

Described as widespread in Ghana, by Belshaw & Bolton (1994b) from leaf litter samples, 299 workers, and soil samples, 134 workers, from the semi-deciduous forest zone.
