416; Tarbinsky, 1976: 203); junior synonyms caspius (Myrmecocystus
cursor var caspius, Ruzky, 1902b: 470, queen &
male, Ruzsky, 1905b: 447, worker; synonymy Emery, 1906d: 173;
Karavaiev, 1910b: 18) from Russia, and, jakobsoni
(Ruzsky, 1905b: 436, worker) from Turkestan; subspecies
chatkalensis (Tarbinsky, 1976: 202, worker) from Kirgizia,
georgicus (Arnol'di, 1968: 1816, illustrated, queen &
male) from Georgia, and tancrei (Forel, 1901h; 66,
worker; Forel, 1904b: 383, male, Ruzsky, 1905b: 446, queen) from
China (type loc as in Bolton, 1995; China NW, Xinjiang
Province, in Lelej, 2002: 22).

Pisarski separated jakobsoni as a separate species in
which the petiole is more conical.
In cursor-group of Agosti (1990:1465) - petiole
squamiform and upright, mandible with five teeth, third maxillary
palp never flattened and without long erect hairs, gaster with
sparse pubescence; frons longitudinally striate; AL < 4 mm; FI
(first funiculus segment/second funiculus segment length X 100) <
180 [this species ca 160]; monomorphic size variation in workers.
