Asphinctopone lamottei (Bernard)

Type location Guinea (Lepidopone lamottei, Bernard, 1952: 208, illustrated, worker) from Nion, Mt. Nimba (5 workers, collected by Lamotte, at 700 m); worker only described (see Bolton, 1995) .

WORKER - TL 3.3 mm, HL 0.85, HW 0.72
Colour entirely dark red-brown, shiny, extremities yellow-red. Head with double-sized puncturation, large punctures spaced by 4-5 times their diameter, mixed with smaller elongated punctures. Clypeus and antennal lobes strongly puncturated and striated, matt. Eyes black, with 10-12 facets. Clypeus with sinuous margin, median lobe concave. Mandibles slender, polished, with 4 large teeth, the second denticulate at its base (other genus members with 5 or 6 teeth). Thorax with only large puncturation, otherwise very smooth and shiny. Propodeum dorsally rounded, half as long as the declivity, with fossae which give an appearance of crenulation. Petiole scale yellowish, from the rear seen as somewhat concave.
