Aenictus soudanicus Santschi

return to key {link to the Hymenoptera Name Server} Type location Mali (Santschi, 1910g: 785, illustrated, male); subspecies brunneus (Forel, 1913b: 313, male) from Zaïre, males only described. See Aenictus humeralis above, the specimens in the Santschi (1910g) paper all appear to be from Bamakou, Mali, and not "Sudan" as cited by Bolton (1995) .

Santschi's (1910g) description is at {original description}. Santschi (1930a: 57) noted that the eyes of this species are always decoloured and whitish, whereas all other species have black eyes. The ventral areas of the first three gastral segments are as brown as the thorax and the median posterior thorax is rust brown.

Also known from Senegal, Saint Louis, collected by Claveau (in Wheeler, 1922).
