Aenictus guineensis (Santschi) stat. n.

return to key {link to the Hymenoptera Name Server} Type location Guinea (Aenictus rotundatus stirps guineensis n.st., Santschi, 1924b: 204, illustrated, worker) from Kakulima, collected by F. Silvestri; worker only described (see Bolton, 1995) .

Santschi (1924b) gave a brief description, with illustrations, this is at {original description}.

Given the distinctive shape of the petiole and postpetiole, also the more smoothly rounded transition from the dorsum to declivity of the propodeum, and the consistency with the specimen I drew from a finding at CRIN, Nigeria (see below), I feel there is justification to raise this to species status.
