Previous E-News stories:
The first phase of trail construction under a matching grant from NY State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation ended June 26. Work had begun on Earth Day in April, and over the next ten weeks more than sixty volunteers contributed over 550 hours. They cleared the trail corridor, built a stone pathway around and over unanticipated and immovable bedrock, moved rocks that tested the limits of their collective strength, built a 70-foot boardwalk through John Burroughs’s former celery swamp and finished off with a 55-step stone stairway. View the slides how below of our volunteers at work.
