The AMCC is dedicated to provide researchers who are willing to deposit their specimens in our facilities with a dryshipper.

Dryshippers Request:
Researchers requesting a dryshipper must submit a written (or email) request to the Collection Manager at least ONE WEEK BEFORE SHIPPING OR DEPARTURE
- If AMNH researcher: please submit the request form, signed by the curator of your department, to the AMCC
- If external researcher: please submit the request form, signed by the highest authority of your department or institution, as well as a cover letter explaining your research endeavour.
NOTE:
- The AMCC dryshippers will be used ONLY for specimens (and parts thereof) that will be deposited in the Ambrose Monell Cryo-Collection at the American Museum of Natural History.
- The researcher is responsible for the good use and safety of the loaned material.
- Upon return from the field, filled tissue vials will be transferred to AMCC immediately for temporary storage, along with the corresponding data. It is therefore recommended that researcher make a supplementary aliquot of a given sample to be loaned immediately to him or her for research. Any unused tissue vials will be returned to AMCC.
- Graduate students and post-doctoral fellows must obtain the signature of the Curator-in-Charge or head of academic department.
- It is the researcher's responsibility to deal with the administrative paperwork involved with collecting abroad (permits) and importing/exporting biological material (including shipping or transporting the dryshipper). For websites related to these issues, please check our link page.
- The AMCC Collection Manager reserves the right to refuse a dryshipper request after revision of the request form and cover letter.

Shipping
For shipments within North America, the AMCC uses FedEx
For international shipments, the AMCC uses courier such as DHL, World Courier and International Courier Network.

Important note: The AMCC will refuse to ship to Mexico and Brazil.
Shipping to South America and the Middle East will require specific permissions and might be done at the cost of the collector

Access for Pick-up of Collection kits and/or loaned equipment
AMNH staff or external visitors wishing to pick up the dryshipper, or any equipment (such as Field Collection Kits, etc) must notify the Collection Manager at least 24 hours before arrival in the facilities
