How to use

BROWSE Table (on the right): Click through any name for the Phylum record. You can click all the way down to individual specimen records.

SEARCH table (on the left): The search table has 10 fields which can be used singly or in concert to search for relevant taxonomic records. For instance, should one want to search on Carcharodon of Madagascar, Carcharodon should be typed into the Genus box and Madagascar selected in the Country/U.S. state sliding table. The database will produce a listing of all species of tissues the AMCC holds for Carcharodon from Madagascar.

How to cite

Publishing tissue numbers

To publish tissue numbers from AMCC loans, you must cite them according to these specifications:

  1. If the tissue is issued from one of the five AMNH departments, you must put the department number first, followed by the AMCC barcode number
    Example: Dept/Partner = AMNH Mammalogy; Dept/Partner # = AMNH 26379; AMCC Barcode # = 107654
    Citation: AMNH 26379 = AMCC 107654
  2. If the tissue is issued from the AMCC directly, you must cite the AMCC barcode number the following way
Example: Dept/Partner = Ambrose Monell Cryo Collection (AMCC); AMCC Barcode # = 123789
    Citation: AMCC 123789

Publishing the name of the AMCC

The correct name to use in publication for the AMCC is: The Ambrose Monell Cryo Collection (AMCC) at AMNH
