AMCC Barcode number

The unique number allocated to all aliquots of a sample by the Ambrose Monell Cryo Collection

Authority

The person who first described a genus or species, usually noted with the year of the description. If parenthesized, the name is that of a species that has been placed in a genus other than that to which it was originally assigned.

Department / partner

The museum department, institution, or program with whom the AM-CC has or has had a biomaterial banking agreement.

Department / partner number

The catalogue number allocated by the museum department, institution or program that provided the tissue sample.

Body of water

The body of water in which the sample was collected.

Continent

The continent in which the sample was collected.

Country

The country in which the sample was collected.

Determined by

The party or parties that performed the taxonomic identification.

Diagnostic reference

The reference used by the party who determined the taxonomic identity of the sample

GenBank ID

The ID given by the NCBI website for a given genetic sequence.

Geographic subdivision

The primary or secondary administrative division of a country, such as the state, county, parish, district or department in which the sample was collected. If a minor subdivision is not available, city may be used. This online database maintains two levels of geographic subdivision, but allows you to search both of them with one search field.

Locale

The common name given to the park, preserve, zoological institute or city in which the sample was collected.

NCBI taxonomy number

The number given by the NCBI website for a given taxonomic identity.

Literature citation

A reference to a scientific work that used the AM-CC specimen.

Taxonomic history

Any noteworthy historical changes to a specimen’s taxonomic classification.
